Introduction of Federal Insurance Ombudsman

After establishment of the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat in 1983, the Federal Government has established the offices of four more individualized, ‘Task-specific’ Federal Ombudsmen to deal with the complaints of maladministration in the fields of the Insurance, Banking, Tax and the Harassment against Women at Workplace matters. Upon promulgation of the Insurance Ordinance 2000, the first Federal Insurance Ombudsman was appointed in 2006 and the Office of Federal Insurance Ombudsman (FIO) was established. It was the first exclusive forum for resolving disputes between Insurance Companies and the Policyholders Insured.
